The nonprofit organization, WindhamARTS, is pleased to announce the selection of Mary Oliver of Hampton, as their new Executive Director.
“I have known Mary for several years, and am fully aware of her extensive community commitment, background, and experience. She is accomplished as a leader, an artist, a creative entrepreneur, and a legislative liaison. Her knowledge of community resources will serve WindhamARTS well”. Commented Jane Homick, State Peer Advisor for WindhamARTS and former Executive Director.
For over twenty years, Mary Oliver’s life and career have centered around art and community, from her studies in Performance Arts at UCONN, and Arts Education at Goddard in Vermont, to her experiences in non-profit education, including gallery coordinator and curator at WindhamARTS. In her role as the newly appointed Executive Director of WindhamARTS, Mary will be reaching out to artists, musicians, community groups, municipalities and other creative individuals in the Windham Region to better promote the talent we have locally.
Oliver, a Native of Hampton, is very familiar with the local and regional cultural scene, and is excited by the challenge of growing the organization, Windham Region’s officially designated State Local Arts Agency since 2005.
“I am looking forward to working with the State Office of the Arts and the Department of Economic and Community Development in supporting WindhamARTS. Our mission is to empower our “creative community” and to help creative businesses thrive and flourish. It will be exciting to see our larger community discover what extraordinary talent, diversity, and creativity we have among our friends and neighbors.”
“There will be many exciting things coming from WindhamARTS in the next couple of months. The Board of Directors has been working hard at transforming the organization from its old format into the new Local Arts Agency that the State wants as a partner. We are all pleased to have Mary on board to help with this transformation,” said Karl Norton, President of WindhamARts.
