TLGV Calendar Photo Contest Deadline Approaches! 

TLGV has announced a search to find inspiring photographs that celebrate life and capture the unique spirit of the National Heritage Corridor.  Every year we produce an informative calendar with great pictures, moon phases, and interesting tidbits about the history, flora and fauna of The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor.  The 2017 TLGV Calendar will feature photographs submitted during this summer’s Calendar Photo Contest. The deadline is August 11 at noon!

History in The Last Green Valley – the Collaboration Continues with Huntington!

Huntington Homestead

36 Huntington Rd., Scotland, CT

(Enter driveway, drive through stone wall opening, park in field to left of homestead.)

The Huntington Homestead, a National Historic Landmark and birthplace of Samuel Huntington, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a distinguished statesman during the Revolutionary War and early Republic is a remarkably well-preserved site. The 18th century house sits on its original foundation surrounded by acres of farmland.

11th Annual Tastes of the Valley 

Sunday, September 18, 5 – 7 pm

The Mansion at Bald Hill

29 Plaine Hill Rd., Woodstock, CT 

Please join us for our 11th annual celebration, dinner and fundraiser for TLGV. Tastes of the Valley features the finest chefs in the region,

preparing foods raised and grown in The Last Green Valley.

Silent auctions and a raffle will be held throughout the evening highlighting the crafts, artistry, beauty and natural resources of The Last Green Valley.

Tickets (space limited): Members $65, Non-members $75. At the door $80 if space is available.  Includes wine and beer tasting.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Walktober – Bigger and Better Than Ever – Arriving in Member Mailboxes Soon!

Walktober teams, volunteers & leaders have put together a collection of 250+ choices of walks, hikes, historic tales, paddles, bike rides, farm visits with animals, offered to YOU this Walktober!

Get out and EXPLORE your National Heritage Corridor’s 35 towns in eastern CT and south-central MA from Saturday, September 24th through Sunday, November 6th

Step up to The Last Green Valley Member Walktober Challenge!

Do You Walktober? Of course you do!

The Challenge:

  • Attend 15 Walktober experiences this year.
  • Sign in on each attendance sheet.
  •  Have your photo taken at each Walktober.
  • Submit all photos and locations at once with your name & phone number to Marcy@tlgv.org.
  • Deadline for entries: November 10, 2016.
  • Prize: A specially-designed Walktober Challenge t-shirt – wear it proudly!
  • BONUS: If you completed the challenge last year, we’ve got a new prize for you!

Contest open to TLGV Members only!  

The Last Green Valley reserves the right to use any photos submitted to The Last Green Valley for any purpose. We always try to give credit to the photographer, so be sure to include complete contact information when submitting photos. We encourage photos of people enjoying Walktober experiences, but we must have written permission from any recognizable subjects, particularly minors (we need permission from their parents/ guardians) in order to publish the photos).

Norwich Day in The Last Green Valley

Sunday, August 28

9 – 11 am Norwich Heritage Trail Walk

11 am – 3 pm Norwich History Day at Norwichtown Green

Join members of The Last Green Valley as we travel to Norwich for a two-part opportunity including a morning hike followed by the Norwich History Day activities on the Norwichtown Green.
