Windham Center preserves the spirit of village life in the planning and execution of Jazz in the Garden, a unique annual event in support of the Windham Free Library. Join us this year on September 11th and discover the magic of true village spirit!
In colonial times the residents of Windham were noted for “love of fun and frolic, bantering and jesting.” The Windham Free Library inspires the continuation of this time-honored tradition with Jazz in the Garden. This event represents the commitment of this community to serve as purveyors of this tradition and the history of Windham. Planning for the event is a year-long team effort that involves the entire Windham Center village.
The Windham Free Library is housed in a historical building on the Windham Center Green, the largest historic district in Connecticut. Built in 1832, the building was originally a bank and later a museum before becoming a library in 1896.
A significant portion of this library’s budget is raised during Jazz in the Garden. This festive event offers live jazz, gourmet appetizers, complimentary wine, desserts, and a silent auction of unique works donated by area artists and artisans. It is held in a beautiful Italianate villa garden by the Windham Center Green.
The 2016 Jazz in the Garden will be held on Sunday September 11 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. This year’s entertainment will be provided by the Rob Zappulla.”Come Fly with Me “R, and orchestra . Tickets are $50 per person. For additional information, to purchase tickets, or to make a donation, please visit http://jazzinthegarden.info/ or call the Windham Free Library at 860-423-0636.
