STORRS, CT (Feb. 19, 2014)-Feb. 28th is the deadline for Connecticut manufacturers interested in applying for a new funding program aimed at providing access to cutting-edge additive manufacturing technology.
The University of Connecticut, along with Connecticut Innovations’ CTNEXT program and the Pratt & Whitney Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center at UConn, recently announced the launch of the Connecticut Additive Manufacturing Innovation Program. The purpose of the program is to provide approximately 25 small- and medium-sized Connecticut businesses access to UConn’s additive manufacturing facilities over the next two years. With access to the facility, organizers hope that participants will be able to evaluate the additive manufacturing technology’s ability to enhance the quality, speed and breadth of their product development.
Projects will be selected, on a merit basis, to receive a cost share contribution from CTNEXT and UConn for work related to additive metal manufacturing.
“This is an excellent opportunity to make this technology available to local CT manufacturers and challenge them to develop new applications for this cutting-edge technology,” said Jeff Scarcella, an industry liaison with UConn’s Technology Partnership and Licensing Group.
