Now that Halloween is over and we are in November it is time to start thinking about the next holiday, Thanksgiving. Before we know it Thanksgiving will be here so it is never to early to start thinking about your menu for that special day.
To help you find your way through the holiday meal preparation, here are a few key menu items for your meal; along with a few helpful tips on how much food you will need for the amount of guests you will have.
Menu Items:
Turkey: We recommend getting a turkey that will feed one pound of turkey per person. If you buy a frozen turkey, be sure to take it out of the freezer so it has plenty of time to defrost. If you’re defrosting the turkey in the fridge, allow 24 hours for every five pounds of turkey. A time table is listed below as a guideline.
4 to 12 pounds | 1 to 3 days |
12 to 16 pounds | 3 to 4 days |
16 to 20 pounds | 4 to 5 days |
20 to 24 pounds | 5 to 6 days |
Mashed or Sweet Potatoes: ½ pound per a person
Vegetable: 1/3 pound per person
Stuffing: 4oz per person
Cranberry Sauce: ¼ cup per person
Rolls/Biscuits: 2 small rolls
Pie: 3 in wedge
