Your Voice, Your Vision – Help Us Shape the Future of The Last Green Valley |
Join us for three special events that will help shape the future of the National Heritage Corridor. TLGV is hosting three opportunities to help us create a vision plan that will take us into the next decade. The three sessions are: 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the TLGV offices, 203B Main Street, Danielson, CT. Light dinner and refreshments will be served. Oct. 29 Natural Resources & Agriculture in The Last Green Valley: The discussion will focus on healthy streams, swimmable lakes, farms, food, woodlands, wildlife habitat and more! Oct. 30 Economic Vitality in The Last Green Valley: The discussion will focus on economic vitality. Think paddling, hiking, fishing, biking, bird watching and stargazing and how nature-based recreation can drive tourism, fuel downtowns, healthy communities and more. Nov. 1 Historical Collaboration: Historic and Cultural Resources in The Last Green Valley: The discussion will focus on historic and cultural resources. We are surrounded by iconic places filled with stories of people who shaped our region and the nation. What can we do better to preserve them, tell their stories, and make them relevant to the future? Come to 1, 2 or all 3 of the sessions. Registration is required. Please contact Kyle Gregoire, TLGV Community and Donor Relations Manager, at 860-774-3300 or email. |

$15,000 in Historic Grants Awarded TLGV has awarded $15,000 in grants to five local organizations to preserve, protect, interpret, promote or market historic and cultural resources. Every grant must be matched 1:1. Since TLGV began awarding historic and cultural grants in 2003, more than $1 million has been disseminated to local organizations. For many the funding is the necessary step toward completion of their projects. The grant recipients are: Friends of Ashbel Woodward Museum, the Hampton Antiquarian and Historical Society, Temple Beth Israel Preservation Society, the Town of Eastford and the Voluntown Historical Society in partnership with the Town of Voluntown. |

TLGV Awards $2,500 Transaction Grant TLGV recently awarded a $2,500 Heritage Transaction Grant to the Wyndham Land Trust to help in its ongoing effort to protect Bull Hill, a more than 3,000 acre undisturbed forest straddling Thompson and Woodstock. The $2,500 grant will be matched 1:1 and is needed for legal fees to finalize the donation on two parcels of landlocked forest on Bull Hill totaling 19 acres. The parcels abut land owned by the Town of Thompson and Wyndham Land Trust. The parcels contain a segment of north-south trail that connects the entire Bull Hill Forest. |

Putnam Bank, Foundation Supports TLGV Putnam Bank and the Putnam Bank Foundation’s generosity continues to enhance programs throughout The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. Putnam Bank is the exclusive sponsor of Acorn Adventures, kid-friendly programs offered by TLGV every month of the year where children and their families can learn to letterbox, track animals, see sun spots and much more. Putnam Bank’s generous $1,500 sponsorship has allowed TLGV to expand the programs and give children the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and educational way. Putnam Bank also provided a $1,000 Gold Sponsorship of Tastes of the Valley, TLGV’s largest fundraiser and the original farm-to-table event of the region. The Putnam Bank Foundation is a major sponsor of the 28th Annual Walktober with a $3,000 donation. Putnam Bank has supported Walktober since 2001 and has helped it grow from one “Walking Weekend” into the six-week-long celebration that Walktober has become today. |
