June 24, 2015 – The ever-evolving Storrs Center welcomes two more businesses, The UPS Store and E Fix & More. Along with the recently announced additions of Hair Cuttery and Wingstop, these new retailers mark the completion of the first phase of a multi-phase revitalization plan at Storrs Center.
The UPS Store, located at 1206 Storrs Road, will be opening this summer. “As a one-stop shop for shipping, postal, printing and business services, we look forward to serving the University of Connecticut and Mansfield community,” said Cara Balsamo, The UPS Store co-owner.
In addition to domestic and international shipping, The UPS Store offers full-service packaging, digital printing and online printing, black-and-white and color copies, document finishing (binding, laminating, etc.), printing services (business cards, letterhead, rubber stamps, etc.), notary, custom crating and shipping for large items, mailbox and postal services, office and packaging supplies, and more.
According to Balsamo, “We are in the business of saving people time, and with shipping prices direct from UPS, we can save them money as well. At The UPS Store, we’re committed to providing convenient and new business solutions with personalized customer service.” The UPS Store in Storrs is co-owned with John King who is also co-owner of The UPS Stores in Danbury and New Milford, Connecticut. He has been an owner/operator for the last ten years.
The UPS Store will join Hair Cuttery and Wingstop in the 5,000 square foot building adjacent to Price Chopper, at the intersection of Storrs Road and Charles Smith Way. Hair Cuttery and Wingstop are slated to open this summer as well. The openings of these three businesses means that Storrs Center, which was purchased by Hart Realty Advisers on behalf of the Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds in phases throughout 2014, will be completely leased and occupied until future phases of the Center are developed over the next year or so.
Matt Rusconi and David Vorchheimer, the men behind Moe’s Southwest Grill and Mooyah Burgers & Fries in Storrs Center, are also responsible for Wingstop. “We have believed in the vision for Storrs Center from the beginning,” said Rusconi, who is a native of eastern Connecticut. “We are dedicated to the growth and success of Storrs Center and the surrounding communities, and we’re excited to bring Wingstop here as one of the restaurant’s first New England locations.”
Caryn Black, the Regional Leader of Hair Cuttery, echoes that sentiment saying, “Storrs is a wonderful community and we are thrilled to provide jobs and services to people in this area.” Founders Dennis and Ann Ratner opened the first Hair Cuttery in West Springfield, VA in 1974. Since then, Hair Cuttery has become the largest privately-held salon chain in North America, encompassing approximately 12,000 Associates with over 750 Salons in 16 states.
Open for business since this past January, E Fix & More is a cell phone and computer repair store, selling both cell phone and computer accessories. Customers can purchase customized cell phone cases, repair PCs and laptops, and even purchase or sell used phones. With locations in Westfarms Mall, Trumbull Mall, Buckland Hills, and Solomon Pond Mall, the owner chose Storrs Center as the next Connecticut location.
These exciting additions to Storrs Center’s retail offerings will bring the combined total to over 30,000 square feet of new stores and restaurants.
