American Friends of Kenya (www.afkinc.org) is a local charity that sends shipments of books and medical supplies to the poorest regions of Kenya.
We need at least 2,000 square feet of donated or low cost space for work and storage. The site must also have electricity and heat as well as a loading dock or direct access to a parking lot. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
American Friends of Kenya, as many of you know, is a Norwich-based charity serving the needs of libraries and librarians in Kenya. One of our annual projects is a huge shipment of books, medical supplies etc. to Kenya. Our main work/storage site is currently in the basement of Otis Library in Norwich. AFK is very grateful to the Library for the use of this space for the past several years. Unfortunately for us, the Library now needs their extra space for other purposes, and AFK must find a new home. We actually need quite a large space. To maintain our current level of operations, we require approximately 3,500-4,000 square feet. Even if we downscale a bit, we will still need at least 1,500-2,000 sq. ft. Other requirements: . space must be lighted, have at least one electrical outlet and be dry and free of excessive heat or cold. must be able to load a 40 foot high cube container each year…ideally, the space would have either a loading dock or some other means of direct access to a driveway or parking lot (i.e. no stairs)
Finally, as a charity on a tight budget, AFK must keep its overhead costs to a minimum.
Naturally, our ideal is free space, and we are more than willing to provide documentation for tax purposes [we are a 501c3]. If free space is simply not possible, we are open to low-cost options.
