Congressman Joe Courtney comes to Windham Region to hear concerns

The Chamber of Commerce, Windham Region, will be hosting a legislative breakfast with guest speaker Joe Courtney, US Congressman on Thursday, February 24th, 2011 at Eastern CT State University, in the J. Eugene Smith Library, room 204, at 8:00 am.  Congressman Courtney represents the Second Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives and has been an avid supporter of the Windham Region.
The breakfast will present the audience with an opportunity to ask questions about the national economy and how it will affect Connecticut, bills to be discussed during the next session, budget balancing and job creation.  Congressman Courtney will give a presentation on matters concerning the region its economy as well as upcoming programs he is sponsoring.

Congressman Courtney first came to the U.S. House in 2006. He serves on the House Education and Labor Committee and House Armed Services Committee. On the Armed Services Committee, Congressman Courtney serves on the Seapower and Expeditionary Forces and the Military Readiness Subcommittees. On the Education and Labor Committee, he sits on the Higher Education and the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittees.  Representative Courtney is also the first Congressman from the Second Congressional District to sit on the House Education and Labor Committee since the World War II era, which is notable given that eastern Connecticut is proudly known as the “higher education district” of Connecticut.
