KNOW YOUR FARMER FAIR: Learn About Fresh & Local Food Opportunities

Willimantic, CT, February 7, 2017 … The Windham Community Food Network (WCFN) & GROW Windham are hosting a 2nd Annual Know Your Farmer Fair at the Windham Town Hall Auditorium on Saturday, February 25th from 9 am to 12 pm. This is an opportunity for residents, chefs, merchants, and institutions to meet local farmers and look ahead to the upcoming growing season. All are welcome to this free event.

Attendees will learn about the myriad of ways they can buy fresh, local fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, honey, soap, and fibers. There will be farmers marketing their farm stands, wholesale businesses, farmers’ markets, and community supported agriculture (CSA) shares. Additionally, there will be food and farm products available for purchase, a seed swap table and several local not-for-profit organizations that support agricultural related activities for residents such as community gardens and educational programs for children and adults.

The Know Your Farmer Fair is a project of the Windham Community Food Network and GROW Windham. The Windham Community Food Network is a collaboration of merchants, farmers, organizations, and community members looking to meet local nutritional needs with local resources. GROW Windham is a collaboration of community partners dedicated to promoting access to healthy food in the Windham region through the support of community food projects and food- and garden-based youth programming.

Windham Town Hall Auditorium is located at 979 Main Street, Willimantic CT. For more details about this event, see www.facebook.com/ctknowyourfarmerfair. To learn more about GROW Windham and WCFN, visit www.GrowWindham.org and www.WindhamFood.org.
