Hartford, CT – Meet the ghosts of eight New Londoners with ghoulish stories to tell as the Hempsted Houses celebrate Halloween from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, October 25th.
Staff members and local students who performed at the site this summer will tell the stories of a sailor who died at sea, a smallpox victim, a patriot who died at the Battle of Fort Griswold, a woman who was hung on Gallows Lane for allegedly killing her baby, a woman who died when her skirt caught fire while cooking, and others.
Visitors can see New London’s oldest house at twilight, talk with the ghosts and also make s’mores over an open fire.
Suggested donation is $7 for adults; $6 for AAA and seniors; $4 for kids 6-18, and $15 for families. Free for Connecticut Landmarks members. The Hempsted Houses are located at 11 Hempstead Street in New London. Call (860) 443-7949 for more information, or visit us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HempstedHouses.
