nternational Sales Workshop:
Are You Getting Your Share of the International Travel Market?
Presented by the Connecticut Office of Tourism
June 19 & 20, 2017
The International travel market is an increasingly important segment of the Connecticut and New England tourism economy. In 2015, nearly 2.2 million overseas travelers (excluding Canada and Mexico) visited New England, accounting for $2.13 billion in total direct spending during their stay in the region.
In 2015, 296,000 overseas visitors traveled to Connecticut, second in New England only to Massachusetts. Overseas visitors to Connecticut traveled throughout the state and spent an estimated $330 million in total direct spending in 2015.
Daily Aer Lingus flight service into Bradley International Airport and the Norwegian Air service starting June 17th has increased interest among international travelers and positioned Connecticut as a new international front door to New England. In preparation of increased visitors from abroad, the Connecticut Office of Tourism is presenting a workshop that will teach you how to best attract and sell your business to the international traveler.
The workshop will be presented by Lori Harnois, Executive Director of Discover New England and Sue Norrington-Davies, Director of Business Development for Tour Mappers. During this very informative 90- minute workshop learn:
- Who is the international visitor
- How a destination is selected
- The booking process
- What you need to do to book the business
We have scheduled four (4) workshops across the state. Please RSVP the meeting you will be attending to Jennifer Haag at jennifer.haag@ct.gov or 860-256-2765 by Thursday, June 15th.
