As part of the Town of Coventry’s 300th Anniversary celebration, the public is invited to two events centered on the artistry of textiles. Located just ¼ mile apart, both are set on historic grounds and offer a glimpse into Coventry’s past:
300 YEARS OF COVENTRY QUILTS: Saturday, May 19th (Rain date: Sunday, May 20th), noon–4 p.m.; Sponsored by the Coventry Historical Society at the Strong-Porter Museum, 2382 South St., Coventry, CT. View nearly 100 antique and new quilts in all phases of construction along a picturesque woodland path. Take this unique opportunity to see a wide array of beautiful handcrafted works. A STITCH IN TIME FIBER ARTS FESTIVAL: Fri., May 18 – 1-6 p.m.; Sat. & Sun., May 19 & 20 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Come spinners, knitters, weavers, quilters and other artists to the Hale Homestead, 2299 South St., Coventry, CT! Bring your hand work and stay as long as you’d like. Vendor spaces are available. Raffle, refreshments, children’s activities and demonstrations will be available. Donations accepted.
