Our February Speaker Is Montique Cotton Kelly, Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations At UConn

Nicknamed “Kamikaze Friend Maker” by her mother because of her innate ability to make friends very easily at a young age, little did Montique Cotton Kelly, UConn’s Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations, realize that this attribute would one day serve her well.  To her family, friends and colleagues she is known as “Mo”.  With more than 20 years of alumni relations experience in various leadership positions, Mo has extensive experience in strategic planning, budget management, board development, program development, and fundraising.  She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Bowling Green University.

Mo credits her military roots and tight-knit family for her success in alumni relations. She recalls having attended many schools. By the time she graduated from high school in 1990, she had attended 13. She considers this a blessing, citing that it helped define part of her personality. She feels that her knack to establish friendships quickly is an integral part of alumni relations.

The Chamber of Commerce, Windham Region, hosts monthly networking luncheons for women entrepreneurs and business leaders. This is a fantastic opportunity for women to meet each other, exchange business leads, share professional experiences and share information about their companies.

This event is the second Tuesday of each month and started as a networking group for women entrepreneurs and professionals.  The luncheon will now include professional development opportunities.  One month there will be networking and referral building, the next month there will be a speaker on a business related topic and the next month will be a facilitated group discussion on a topic chosen for personal, professional or business growth.  The luncheon is $20 for members and $25 for non-members and includes lunch.

Guests must register in advance no less than 24 hours in advance of the meeting. We will not registrations any later than noon on the Monday before the event. You can register thru our www.WindhamChamber.com or by calling the office with a credit card at 860-423-6389.

Format for the luncheon can be expected as follows for 2017: January Networking, February – Speaker,  March – Discussion, April -Networking, May – Speaker, June – Discussion, July – Networking,  August – Speaker, September – Discussion, October – Networking, November – Speaker, December – Discussion
