Family Literacy Night

Award-winning Storyteller, Diane Edgecomb to Perform in Chaplin

On Thursday, October 27th, the Chaplin Elementary School (Chaplin, CT) will sponsor a Family Literacy Night featuring award-winning storyteller, Diane Edgecomb.  The public is invited to attend the free storytelling concert from 6:45 – 7:30.
A fall tradition, Chaplin Elementary School features concerts celebrating reading and the art of storytelling during their fall Scholastic Book Fair. Family Literacy Night invites parents and children to indulge in activities and performances by regional or nationally acclaimed musicians and storytellers. Performing artists /authors give a short school wide assembly and student/teacher workshops as an “artist in residence” during the day. This year’s featured artist, Diane Edgecomb, has won the Year’s Best Performance Award given by The Boston Herald.
Diane Edgecomb’s fun-filled family storytellings are designed for audiences of all ages.  On October 27th, she will tell seasonal stories ranging from her “Tall Fall Tales” which brings alive the autumn world of nature with original stories and songs sure to delight both young and old, to her popular “Once Upon a Halloween” program. Once Upon A Halloween is a fun-filled, Halloween event – complete with a huge cauldron bubbling over with fog for the last dramatic story! This family program contains some old chestnuts as well as great new Halloween stories full of surprises. All tales are appropriate for family audiences and contain a well-rounded blend of suspense and humor.
The public storytelling concert begins at 6:45. The Chaplin Elementary School address is 240 Palmer Road, Chaplin, CT. 06235. Admission is free. Call 860-455-9593 for more information.
