Willimantic, CT — The Center for Internships and Career Development at Eastern Connecticut State University will engage in a variety of activities in September, October and November to support students’ career advancement.
One point that will be stressed to students during lectures and workshops is to plan their major to align with their chosen career. Students will be encouraged to buy résumé paper, thank-you notes, portfolios, career-related books and more at the campus bookstore during the fall semester.
“The fall semester is a great time for students to get involved with career development activities,” said Cliff Marrett, interim director of the Center for Internships and Career Development. “Seniors should be planning for job searches or graduate school admissions. They can do so by attending résumé writing or interviewing workshops, participating in on-campus recruiting days, or attending the graduate school fair. Others might start exploring internship or co-op programs, researching occupations, or checking a career-related book out of the library. The goal is to get students thinking about their careers, making plans and using campus resources to achieve those goals.”
