An improvisational trio composed of political cartoonist Bob Englehart of the Hartford Courant; dance artist Brad Roth; and musician and composer Neely Bruce, will perform “cartoondancemusic” at Eastern Connecticut State University’s University Hour from 3-4 p.m on Oct. 10 in the Betty R. Tipton Room located in the Student Center. The public is invited. Admission is free.
During the improvisational performance, Englehart will draw cartoons in real time, projecting them onto a large screen, Wesleyan Music Professor Neely Bruce will play the piano, while Eastern adjunct faculty member Brad Roth dances in the spaces in-between.
Event organizers say “the performance will focus on the national elections, national issues, the primary and general election campaigns, while the backgrounds and personalities of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be explored in-the-moment through these complimentary art forms in a ‘fair and balanced’ manner.”
