Dr. Jill Dennis has just recently joined the staff of North Windham Animal Hospital. Dr. Dennis is from Rhode Island. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Bates College in 1982 and graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Dennis then received her DVM from Cornell University in 1986. There, she was elected to Phi Zeta or the National Veterinary Honor Society.
Dr. Dennis has had two businesses on her own. She started Acoaxet Veterinary Clinic in Westport, Mass., in 1987. Later, she sold the business to spend more time with her children who were very young at the time. She has three children, Natalie, Ethan and Gordon who are now ages 26, 23 and18 respectively.
While the children were growing up, Dr. Dennis had a house call practice for 16 years. She also has worked doing relief work at several hospitals in R. I. over the years. Now that the last of her children has gone off to college, she is ready to focus even more of her time on veterinary practice. North Windham Animal Hospital feels like a terrific place to spend the rest of her career.
Dr. Dennis is especially interested in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She currently has two kittens and two birds (an African Grey parrot and a Cockatoo) named Gwen and Bob. She has had many different pets over the years including a goat, a pig , several dogs , a rabbit and a chinchilla. She comes to North Windham with much enthusiasm and appreciation of the wonderful human-animal bond.
In her spare time, Dr. Dennis enjoys taking long walks, reading books , traveling and gourmet cooking. She also has a special interest in foreign languages. She speaks Swedish and has a special affection for the country as she spent her seventeenth year there as an exchange student . Dr. Dennis looks forward to getting to know the clients and their pets of North Windham Hospital as she has been working in the veterinary field since she was nineteen years old.
