The Connecticut Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority launched a $4.5 million grant program to help businesses reduce the cost of buying solar equipment to power their facilities.
CEFIA is soliciting proposes under the On-Site Renewable Distributed Generation Program to award financial supports to projects installing solar photovoltaic panels in three categories: business and industrial buildings, public buildings, and affordable housing.
The program is only for solar photovoltaic renewable energy systems and does not include other clean technologies such as wind, fuel cell, biomass and landfill gas.
The grants are designed to help installers of solar panels break even over the life of the technology, as the energy savings from needing less grid power offsets the cost of the equipment and installation. In judging the applications, strong emphasis will be given to the financial feasibility of the projects.
Applications are due Dec. 30. For information, visit www.ctcleanenergy.com/OSDG.
