Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s Community Giving Program has announced its latest round of funding recipients, which include 12 local community and non-profit groups. Organizations that will receive grants in varying amounts totaling $24,000 from the program’s fourth quarter 2011 giving cycle are The American Red Cross Connecticut Region; Connecticut Adoption and Family Services; The Connecticut Story Telling Center; The Mystic Branch of the Ocean Community YMCA; Thames Area Citizen Advocacy Program; The Windham Area Interfaith Ministry; Sacred Heart Educational Center; Madonna Place; Historically Black College Alumni; Friends of Fort Griswold; The Spirit of Broadway and The Special Olympics of Southeastern Connecticut. These contributions will benefit ongoing initiatives in Eastern Connecticut that include tutoring and college preparatory programs, mentoring and support for troubled children, youth exercise and nutrition programs and the maintenance of local historical landmarks.
In 2011 Charter Oak awarded over $170,000 in funding through their charitable giving program, which provides grants and sponsorships to organizations serving the residents of New London or Windham counties.
Organizations interested in applying for support can do so at any time by submitting applications, which are available at any Charter Oak branch location or online at www.CharterOak.org. Requests $2,500 and over are reviewed quarterly. The next submission deadline for requests for the first quarter of 2012 is April 1st.
Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is a financial institution owned by its members. Individuals who live, work, worship, attend school, or volunteer in, and businesses and other legal entities located in New London County or Windham County, CT are able to become members.
