Charter Oak Federal Credit Union Named Eastern CT’s #1 Mortgage Lender in 2010 & 2011
Groton-based Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has been named Eastern Connecticut’s top mortgage lender for the second year in a row based on data compiled by The Warren Group. Out-lending national and local competitors, Charter Oak once again ranked first in number of mortgage transactions in New London and Windham counties combined. In 2011, the Credit Union closed 793 mortgages totaling over $93.8 million throughout New London and Windham counties. 643 mortgages totaling $79.4 million were closed in New London County, while 150 mortgages totaling $14.4 million were closed in Windham County.
The only credit union in Eastern Connecticut to ever earn the honor of top mortgage lender, two-time recipient Charter Oak owes much of its success to its diverse lineup of mortgage products, which serve a wide range of borrowing needs for the region’s residents. Featuring competitive rates and products like the Accelerator Mortgage, the Cost Saver Mortgage, as well as USDA and FHA loans, Charter Oak has been able to attract new members and out-lend the competition for two years straight.
According to CEO Brian Orenstein, “We’ve built a great mortgage team here at Charter Oak. The momentum from last year’s success carried over into 2011. We want to be known as “the place” to get your mortgage. And we are getting there. I am very proud of our staff and so thankful to our loyal membership.”
