Channel 3 Kids Camp Teens Bake with Panera Bread of Newington

Andover, CT, April 7, 2015 – Panera Bread of Newington proudly opened their doors to Channel 3 Kids Camp’s year-round teen leadership program to teach them a thing or two about baking their delicious treats. “We are so thankful for members of the baking team Mike Scheidel and Jason Bessette for welcoming our teens into their kitchen. They had a fabulous time learning the ins and outs of baking bread and pastries in an interactive way.” says Alycia Williams, Director of Programs, “Everything was delicious.”

The Kids Camp teens learned about the skills needed and job requirements for being a baker at Panera Bread. They learned the entire process of baking and even baked pastries to try on their own.

Panera Bread of Newington is a member of the Howley Bread Group, a franchisee of Panera Bread, a unique company where others are treated with respect, families are valued, and career opportunities are available at all levels. Howley Bread Group is one of Panera’s most respected franchises, growing from 1 location in 2000 to 28 Bakery-Cafes to date across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

“It’s because of community businesses and individuals like Panera Bread of Newington that our teen leadership program is able to grow over the last few years. Building roots in various communities across Connecticut is what helps our teens become stronger individuals that can promote positive change in their hometowns,” states Denise K. Hornbecker, Channel 3 Kids Camp CEO.

Channel 3 Kids Camp believes that ALL children deserve a Kids Camp experience. Its mission is to provide fun year-round opportunities to children of all abilities, families, and communities through educational and recreational programs that promote diversity, acceptance, and environmental appreciation. The nonprofit organization provides opportunities through after school programming, home school enrichment programs, weekend groups and respite weekends, traditional overnight and day camp summer programs, and its new, year-round preschool. Channel 3 Kids Camp is located in Andover and Coventry Connecticut on 150 wooded acres alongside the Skungamaug River. Please visit www.channel3kidscamp.org or call 860-742-2267 to learn more about these opportunities.
