CELEBRATING THE HARVEST IN THE LAST GREEN VALLEY

As the crisp days of autumn arrive and the region takes on brilliant tones, The Last Green Valley, Inc. (TLGV) will host Tastes of the Valley on Sunday, September 14, 2014.  The popular event raises funds and awareness for the organization.  This year it will be held at the Mansion at Bald Hill in Woodstock and is sponsored by Fiberoptics Technology, the Mansion at Bald Hill, Rebecca Harvey, Putnam Bank, Keith & Elaine Knowlton, Savings Institute Bank & Trust, Titan Energy, Millennium Power, and Southbridge Savings Bank.

The Last Green Valley is blessed with abundant farms and exceptional restaurants, and Tastes of the Valley celebrates those gastronomic gifts.  The event features food grown and raised in the 35 towns of the National Heritage Corridor and then expertly prepared by the finest chefs in the region.  Tastes of the Valley showcases the skills of local farmers, chefs, cheese makers, vintners and brewers.

The evening also includes raffles baskets and silent auctions highlighting the area’s business, farms and artists. There will also be a very lively live auction. Unique items from around the region will be offered including an airplane ride over The Last Green Valley with Les Sweetnam, a ride- along restaurant review with Joan Gordon of the Bulletin, a cocktail party for 40, an overnight package to Old Sturbridge Village, pair of Adirondack chairs, entertainment packages, two gift trees loaded with gift certificates, event tickets & more, and special personalized and behind the scene experiences, such as private hikes and lunch, and even a chance to be a cameraman for a TLGV television show on Charter. The evening is always fun-filled and delicious!

The Tastes of the Valley feast is being crafted by the talented chefs of: 85 Main, Bella’s Bistro, Cafémantic, Coriander Café, Grill 37, Heirloom Food Company, the Inn at Woodstock Hill, the Mansion at Bald Hill, Oliver Wight Tavern, the Publick House Historic Inn, the Purple Carrot Food Truck, Soleil & Suns Bakery, the Vanilla Bean Café, and Vienna Restaurant and Historic Inn.

Delicious fresh products are provided by 18th-Century Purity Farm, Blackmer Farm, Buell’s Orchard, Chase Road Growers, Creamery Brook Bison, Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm, the Farmer’s Cow, Hart’s Greenhouse & Florist, Lapsley Orchard, Meadowstone Farm, New Boston Beef, Palazzi Orchard and Wayne’s Organic Garden.

The delectable offerings of the feast will be complemented by beverages from Black Pond Brews, Hosmer Mountain Soda, Jonathan Edwards Winery, Maple Lane Farms, Marty’s of Dudley, Mrs. Bridges’ Pantry, Pioneer Brewery, Sharpe Hill Vineyard, Taylor Brooke Winery, Westford Hill Distillers and Willimantic Brewery.

Tickets for Tastes of the Valley are $65 per person and seating is limited.  To purchase tickets call 860-774-3300.

The Last Green Valley is a National Heritage Corridor – the last stretch of dark night sky in the coastal sprawl between Boston and Washington, D.C.  A dynamic nonprofit organization, TLGV works for you in the National Heritage Corridor.  We help you to care for it, enjoy it, and pass it on!
