CANCELLED Windham Chamber’s Annual Picnic & Open House

We are sorry to announce that our member picnic has been cancelled

Members:

Unfortunately, we have to cancel this year’s member appreciation picnic and open house scheduled for 11-2 on Wednesday, July 20.

As of 6 PM on Monday, we had only 12 registrations. We were supposed to provide food orders to the caterer on Monday morning and cannot delay them any longer.

In past years, we have had as many as 50 pre-register and another 20-30 show up without RSVP’s which makes food planning very difficult. In a tight economy, we cannot afford to commit to enough food to cover walk-ins and we do not want to turn away unregistered members at the event. We are sorry we will not have a chance to see the ones who did register for the picnic.

Having guests attend functions without registering by the deadline puts all of us in a position that we do not want to be in.  To turn away members who unexpectedly show up for events is not fun and harbors bad feelings.  But it is not responsible to order food, especially in this economy, for an additional 30-50 people who you THINK may show up.  So, instead of having to turn away people and creating issues, we have decided it is best to cancel the event.  We hope that you are all understanding and that this encourages everyone in the future to register for events by the deadline.

If you were planning to bring any others with you, please be certain they get this message in time. We hope we can go back to hosting this member appreciation event in 2012.  If you would like to schedule a private tour of the building and our renovations please call the office at 860-423-6389 and we will make arrangements with you.
