What is this calendar used for?

The State Office of Tourism is offering the following opportunity in conjunction with Madden Media.
Amplified Storytelling is a way to get your business in front of people who are online and looking to travel and enjoy what you do best. Participating businesses/attractions will work with an assigned writer who will create an inspiring “story” or article about visiting your tourism business. The article will be professionally laid out, contain attractive imagery and unique content written by the individual that “experienced” your business or attraction.
Final, approved articles are then placed on your website and the link to the new “story” is then distributed through a content matching system that places links to your content on regionally targeted websites.
A woman in New York City looking at country B&B’s in New England on Travel & Leisure online, might be served an article on “Have yourself a harbor with your B&B” that is posted on the Inn at Harbor Hill Marina’s website. She clicks on it and is taken to the Inn at Harbor Hill website.
A man in Providence is looking at auto driving experiences on Car & Driver online may be served an article on “Get behind the wheel. On track in Connecticut” by Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. He clicks on it and is taken to the article on the Thompson Speedway site.
In both cases the individual moves your website and learning about your business. Past participants have seen 20% increases in web traffic as well as increases in time spent on site.
Promotional activity can start anytime. The last day to sign on is April 15, 2015 at which time the writer is assigned and the process begins.
One story is $2,500 (with a $2,500 match by the state). Two stories are $5,000 (+ a $5,000 match). Businesses can team up to create a package. There are guaranteed click-throughs honored with each investment. Some of the stories will be selected to be housed on CTVisit.com as well.
